My uncle's place at Sundargarh..........a lush village...
The stress of PhD has led to a thyroid problem.......I desperately needed some cool, refreshing air...greenery to soothe the frayed nerves...
Visited this place with my mother...
My mother...the gravel road leading to the house..
The tile roof and the forest of sal tree beyond........
It was monsoon time..
The velvety grass carpets the backyard....
I can look into such intense green for hours..
So many fruit trees...papaya, lemon, pomegranate, guava, jackfruit...
The huge well...made of laterite stone blocks.....
And a pile of straw for the cattle..the broad-leaf tree is teak..
Path lwading to the near-by forest...cottages of tribal people..
The dense green tree in the front is karanj (Pongamia sp.)....its oil is a natural mosquito repellent...
Paddy fields bordering the forest...hope, people are not encroaching into the forest...
Paddy saplings have blanketed the field..
A pond full to the brim..
A river meandering by...a tributary of Ib river..
My mother says, they crossed the river themselves or by boat while they were kids to go school on the other bank..
I have seen some areas of the shore used for funerals...
A happy herd of cattle munching away on straw.....
It was immensely therapeutic indeed......
